Not all combat actions involve attacks. Characters can drink potions, activate magic items, dash, disengage, dodge, help allies, or attempt Charisma-based actions like intimidation or deception mid-combat. These actions often change the course of a fight without dealing damage.
Using an action creatively can be more impactful than attacking. Knocking over furniture for cover, shouting threats to demoralise enemies, stabilising a dying ally, or activating a powerful artefact are all valid and encouraged. Combat is not just about damage—it is about decisions.
