Victoria Falls is one of those places that feels unreal until you’re standing there, getting misted in the face. Straddling the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, it’s one of the largest waterfalls on Earth, with the Zambezi River plunging over a mile-wide curtain into a deep gorge below. Locally called Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”— the roar is constant, the spray rises like weather of its own, and rainbows are basically guaranteed on sunny days.
