My Takes

Alta is a great Ski Resort, but if you're not already advanced, you might be better sticking to the bigger resorts in the area like Park City or Deer Valley, however if you are advanced, Alta is a POW-Lovers paradise averaging huge snowfall totals, my favorite runs are off the Cirque Traverse and the Baldy Chutes both of which offer beautiful high quality powder.

Come For the Skiing - Stay for the Powder

Welcome to Alta, an independently-owned ski area since 1938. Alta is proud to be a ski area and not a ski resort. Nestled at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon deep in the Wasatch mountains, Alta is known around the globe for its powder skiing. With an annual snowfall average of 546 inches, powder days are a way of life here. Its a magnetic way of life that draws the same employees and guests back to Altas community each winter. Alta Ski Area is a skier-only destination with tons of great beginner and intermediate terrain. But for any powder-seeking expert, Alta is the promised land thanks to various off-piste lines across the mountain.
