History

Modern skiing in Kyiv transitioned from informal Soviet-era slopes and specialized facilities like the 1968 Olympic Stadium ski jump to a professional network of resorts, beginning with the 1998 opening of Protasiv Yar. This was followed by the development of Vyshhora (2007) and the expansion of Goloseev Ski Park, which remains a primary urban destination in 2026. Despite regional instability, these resorts utilize advanced snowmaking and night lighting to provide residents with consistent access to professional training and recreation within the city limits.

My Takes

While fun for an afternoon, definitely not a destination resort. However, it is very impressive that there is skiing directly in the city and it is extremely cheap.
