Habitat and Movement

Migration patterns of Willow Tits vary depending on the region and seasonal changes in food availability and weather conditions. In general, they are considered non-migratory or only partially migratory birds. However, in some areas, they may undertake short-distance migrations in response to harsh weather or scarcity of food.

For example, even as early as 1963 Willow Tits have been observed on autumn migration in Sweden.

In these areas, the Willow Tit prefers damp, young, regenerating woodland containing old dead wood and remains on or near its territory all year round.
